Interval Hero ("we", "us") is a music-training web app operated by The Music Guy Studio (SSM Reg. No. CA0314602-P), based in Malaysia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It is written to align with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA), as amended.
It covers everyone who uses Interval Hero: individual learners, teachers who run a studio roster, and the students a teacher or parent registers.
| Data | Why we hold it |
|---|---|
| Your name and username | To create your account and greet you in the app. |
| Your password (stored only as a secure hash, never in readable form) | To sign you in. |
| Your email (optional) | Only if you add one. We use it to let you reset a lost password, to confirm a change to your recovery email and alert you if it changes, and (if you start a paid trial) to remind you before it converts or to warn you before a long-inactive account is deleted. We do not send marketing. |
| Your practice progress (scores, levels, activity dates) | To track your learning and, for students, to show your teacher your progress. |
| A display name (optional) | Only if you choose to appear on a leaderboard. |
| Basic technical data (e.g. your IP address at sign-in) | To keep accounts secure, limit abuse, and show pricing in your local currency. Your IP is checked against an on-device country list; it is not sent to any third party for this. |
| Payment details (for paid subscriptions and trials) | Handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card details. |
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the app. They process data only to provide their service to us:
Stripe is based in the United States, and some other providers may also process data outside Malaysia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your data stays protected to a standard consistent with the PDPA.
We keep your personal data only for as long as we need it:
Interval Hero is used by children, and we take that seriously. Children do not create their own accounts: a student account is created and held by a responsible adult (the child's teacher or parent). The adult who creates it confirms they are entitled to do so; where a teacher registers a student, we expect the teacher to have the parent's or guardian's agreement first.
A student account holds very little. There is no email address on it. What we store is:
A student's progress is visible only to that student and to their own teacher. It is never shown to other studios, and it does not appear on any public leaderboard unless the student deliberately opts in with a display name they choose. We do not send students any email or marketing, and we do not use their data for advertising.
Under the PDPA, a parent or guardian (or the student's teacher acting for them) may access, correct or delete a student's account and data at any time. Email us and we will act on it. A person registering their own individual account must confirm they are 16 or older. If you believe a child has registered an individual account without a parent's or teacher's involvement, contact us and we will remove it.
Under the PDPA you may:
For a student account, a parent or the student's teacher can exercise these on the child's behalf. To make a request, email us at the address below.
If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK, or California, these same rights are available to you under the GDPR / UK GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA respectively: access, correction, deletion, portability, and objecting to or restricting processing. We process account data on the basis of our contract with you (running your account) and, where you've given it, your consent; we don't sell personal data, so there's nothing to opt out of a "sale" or "share" of. Contact us at the email below to exercise any of these rights, or to ask about our EU/UK/US data transfer safeguards.
Passwords are stored only as secure hashes, connections are encrypted, and access to accounts is protected. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data and will notify affected users and the authorities of a serious data breach as required by law.
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
We may update this policy as the app grows. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll make a clearer notice in the app.
